Matthew Zimmerman joined Basso Capital in 2008. Mr. Zimmerman leads the research effort for the international investments in the portfolio. He is also responsible for originating investment ideas and managing a portfolio of non-US, credit-oriented convertibles, with a particular focus on high yield, distressed and special situation opportunities.
Previously, Matt was a portfolio manager and Director of Research at Panton Capital Group, a credit hedge fund, where he generated trade ideas, structured investments and was a member of the investment committee. Prior to Panton, he was a senior research analyst at Epsilon Investment Management where he led a research team that focused on capital structure arbitrage, event-driven and market neutral investment strategies. Matt also served as an equity research associate at Deutsche Bank. Prior to that, he traded international equities at Dresdner, Kleinwort Benson and mortgage-backed securities at Citicorp.
Matt serves on the Board of Directors of Hope Community Services. Hope is a non-profit organization in New Rochelle, NY that was founded to respond to hunger and homelessness in the communities in Southern Westchester. Matt received a B.S. in Management, cum laude, from Tulane University and earned an M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University. In addition, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst and was formerly a Certified Public Account.
